FROM SCREENPLAY TO FILM DIRECTION
The 7-month Screenwriting & Film Direction Course at FACE Academy, Mumbai combines screenwriting and film direction into one integrated program. Students learn to develop ideas, structure stories, write screenplays and translate them into visual storytelling and direction, understanding how both disciplines work together to shape a film.
The first 6 months combine structured learning, practical training and assignments in Screenwriting and Film Direction, followed by 1 month dedicated to a collaborative final film project. Students take a project from screenplay and pre-production through production and post-production, putting their writing and direction skills into practice.

WEEKEND SESSIONS
Learn the essential building blocks of storytelling — from film appreciation, genres and screenwriting language to story structure, character, scene design and composition. Develop and refine your screenplay through practical exercises and faculty feedback.

FILM DIRECTION WEEKEND SESSIONS
Learn to translate the written word into visual imagery through script analysis, cinematic language, visual storytelling, blocking, framing, directing actors, pre-production, camera and working with the crew.

Students get access to 14+ professionally built film sets at SJ Studios – including bungalows, hospitals, police stations, offices, cafés and other production environments.
These aren’t classroom simulations. They are sets used for actual productions, giving students the opportunity to understand blocking, scene design, production design, camera placement and directing within a real physical environment.

Script Writing Faculty
Writer/ Creative Producer/ Director
Siddharth Gautam has worked as a writer/ creative producer/ director across formats ranging from TVCs, feature films, documentaries and web series. He is an experienced screenwriter having written multiple feature films as well as short films. The love for story telling led him to mentor numerous screenwriting students who want to learn the art of dramatic storytelling. Siddharth has been a part of writer’s room and worked as a Film executive of the hit Netflix show titled “Class”, the second season of which is under production. He has collaborated with multiple directors on feature films as a writer as well as Associate director. What makes his experience in screenwriting unique is his sense of visual storytelling that comes from his understanding of cinema as an art form. The students get to learn screenwriting as a visual tool, and how to express emotions on paper that makes an impact on screen. With students going through rigorous assignments and constructive feedback, they become more aware of film as a visual medium, so when they take their screenplay on set, they have a clear idea how it will translate on screen. Here, Siddharth’s experience as a filmmaker comes in handy which students benefit from as well. Siddharth’s exposure to world cinema makes it easier for his students to understand universality of films, and recognize the fact that films that connect have a universal language, and if we are able to crack that, we can make films that connects with the global audiences as well.
Cinematography Course Faculty
Cinematographer | Digital Advocate | UNCCD Youth Caucus Regional Focal Point
Chehek Bilgi is a filmmaker, cinematographer, and youth advocate with a passion for using visual storytelling to drive social change and bridge the gap between storytelling and policy-making. With a background in International Relations from the School of Liberal Studies, PDPU, and Cinematography from Whistling Woods International, she has developed a unique blend of creative expertise and policy insight.
As a Director of Photography (DOP), Chehek has worked on a range of award-winning films, including the stop-motion film “Religion for Dummies”, which won a Southern Shorts Award for cinematography, and the Marathi feature film “Vrutti”, which won the Audience Choice Best Feature Film award at the DC South Asian Film Festival. Her short film “Karma Café” and diploma film “Pehchaan” have also been recognized at several international film festivals.
Chehek is also a member of the Indian Women Cinematographers Collective (IWCC), where she contributes to promoting women cinematographers and fostering gender equity in the film industry. Her work spans feature films, commercials, and documentaries, showcasing her versatility in visual storytelling.

Film Editing Faculty
Chinmay Wagh is a Film and television Institute of India graduate specialized in Editing. With 7 years’ experience in Feature Films, Web series and Nonfiction, His Recently Edited Documentary has been screened at DIFF, IDSFFK, CIFF and NYIFF. His Documentary Gotho has been screened in Dharmshala film festival, international documentary and short film festival of Kerala and many more. His more recent short film love note has been also screened in various festivals in India. Apart from this he has been associate editor in 3 feature films and one web series, also he has worked with national award-winning director Paresh Mokashi in his recent film as an assistant director. In 2020 he was selected from across India in 75 creative minds of tomorrow in international film festival of India.
Direction Faculty
Jayesh Joshi is post graduate in tv Direction from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and holds a bachelors of Engineering from Pune University. Having worked as Writer, Director and Actor in Theatre for more than a decade, now he is working as an active filmmaker and a filmmaking coach. Apart from his commercial and digital work, He has also directed multiple documentaries and short films which are appreciated in several film festivals.
